Son of late Dim Chukwuemeka Odimegwu Ojukwu, Chief Emeka Ojukwu jnr, has said that his father would have backed President Goodluck Jonathan for a second tenure in 2015 if he were alive.

The sone of the late warlord also added that APGA adopted President Jonathan as its candidate because he was sure that his father would have done same if he were alive.

Ojukwu jnr, who made the remark in an interview with newsmen in Awka on Monday, said that his father could not have changed his mind after supporting President Jonathan in 2011.

“Why should he have changed his mind; he supported President Jonathan in 2011 and he has done well for the Igbo people and the country, especially under the circumstances.

“The situation against him is quite unprecedented but in spite of that, we are happy with him and his transformation agenda and see him as somebody who would take the country further.

“If I felt that my father will not support him, I would not have been part of the arrangement by the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA)”, he said.

Ojukwu jnr, who is also a Board of Trustees (BOT) member of the party, however, said that APGA was only supporting Jonathan for president and no other elective positions.

According to him, all other elective positions will be contested for by the party and we expect an APGA victory especially in Anambra and other South-East states.

He advised youths not to allow themselves to be used for violence during the 2015 elections.

“It is also time for the Igbo people to stand together and speak with one voice. Therein lies our power and the ability to go the national table and discuss”, Ojukwu jnr, who is also the sole administrator of Nnewi North local council area of Anambra said.

According to him, if we stand together, anybody that wants any elective office in the country will come to us for support.
