The National Chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance(APGA), Chief Victor Ike Oye, has frowned at the alleged invasion of the Abia State secretariat of APGA, by those he termed miscreants in the party.
The APGA secretariat is located along School Road in Umuahia, the capital city.
This came following the eviction of Augustine Ehiemere-led faction of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), from the secretariat by Nkem Nwosu-led State Working Committee(SWC) of the party last week.
Oye, in a statement issued to newsmen on Tuesday and forwarded to DAILY POST on Wednesday, said, “The action as detestable and unforgivable as it was came barely one week after a successful National Convention of our party held in Awka, Anambra State.
“Instead of aligning themselves with the rare feat achieved at the convention this band of urchins goaded by their desperate paymaster chose the path of infamy by resorting to self-help after failing to hijack the machinery of the party in Abia State for their usual egocentric adventures. We are not worried by their underhand scheming to join another political party, because it will be good riddance to bad rubbish. We only commiserate with them on the shame and opprobrium their ill-advised action will bring upon them.
“APGA as a peace-loving and responsible political party will not take any form of retaliatory or reprisal action but will rather leave everything in the hands of God who rewards every action of man – good or bad – with equal recompense. We urge you and your executive members to remain calm and await further directives from the national leadership of our party”.
Reacting, Hon. Okoro, insisted that APGA chaired by him in Abia is intact. There is no faction in our party in Abia. People who are claiming to be authentic leadership worked against the party during and after the election.
” We did not invade the party office in Umuahia as claimed by Augustine Ehiemere-led group. We only assumed offices after our peaceful congresses. Ehiemere and co, are hallucinating”.
