Chieftains of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) in Imo State has said the zoning of the national chairmanship position to Anambra by the party’s National Working Committee (NWC) was not acceptable and must be jettisoned to avoid crisis.
The chieftains under the auspices of APGA Stakeholders Forum accused the current chairman of the party, Chief Victor Oye, of plotting to perpetuate himself in office.
They implored members of the party’s National Executive Committee, NEC, to partake actively in the upcoming meeting of the committee where “crucial decisions” will be taken.
The forum in a communiqué signed by its spokesperson, Comrade Ikechukwu Chukwunyere, after its meeting in Owerri said, “We welcome the recent announcement by the NWC to hold a national executive committee meeting, heeding to several calls by various stakeholders that a NEC meeting must hold before the fixture of ward, local government, stake congresses and convention going by article 19 of APGA Constitution.
“We implore all NEC members to attend this meeting as crucial decisions affecting the party will be taken.”
