APGA chieftain tasks Governor Bello over insecurity

Chieftain of the Kogi State All Progressives Grand Alliance, Dr. Goodman Akwu has described as nonchalance, and the height of lip service to the good people of Kogi State, who deserve nothing less than protection of their lives and property, but have faced with serious security challenges without response from the Governor.

Akwu in an interview with DAILY POST in Abuja, expressed deep concern that worsening security situation in Kogi State in recent times was due to the government’s inability to take up its primary responsibilities doggedly which he said, has continued to inflict pain on citizens.

“The wave of Insecurity in Kogi State in recent times calls for concern and more worrisome is governor Bello’s nonchalant attitude and his refusal to respond to the situation,” he said.

The former gubernatorial aspirant accused Bello of complicity in the invasion of Idah in Kogi East on 23rd April, 2016 by unknown gunmen where over 20 people were killed and scores injured.

He explained that Governor Bello who was on Foreign trip when the incident happened returned to the State 8 days after, but neither console the victims nor took steps as Chief Security Officer in that regard, a situation he said was unfortunate and disappointing.

“It may interest you to know that the Kogi State governor and chief security officer, Bello returned on Saturday, 30th of April, 8 days after the state was attacked by terrorists and over 20 people were killed from his foreign holidays and as I speak, he has neither consoled the victims nor taken steps of any form,” Akwu stressed.

Akwu maintained that there was no single day that the State would not experience one crime or the other, emphasising that Kogi was gradually becoming hotspot for Crimes.

While condemning recent Kidnapping of Osun State government officials, he called on the citizens to collaborate with Security agents by providing information that will lead to the arrest of criminals.
