The All Progressives Congress, APC, in Yobe State on Friday stated that it has welcomed no fewer than 26,000 defecting members of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, into its fold.

Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Alhaji Adamu Dogo, who is the Chairman of the Contact, Mobilisation and Reconciliation Committee of APC in Yobe, noted that the defectors cut across the 17 local government areas of the state.

According to Dogo, chairmen and their executive members in all the local government areas were among those who denounced membership of the PDP and had thrown their weight behind the APC in “the search for a better and purposeful leadership.”

While promising the decampees that the APC would carry them along in its programmes, he assured them that they would never regret leaving the PDP.

His words, “I am happy you now realise and denounce membership of the PDP by shifting your loyalty to the APC. Let me assure you that you will never regret joining the APC because the party will carry all of you along in its programmes and you will be treated just like any other old member of the party.”

Speaking on behalf of the defectors, the former PDP chairman in Damaturu Local Government, Alhaji Ibrahim Talio, said they left the PDP as a result of “serious injustice they suffered over the years and expressed optimism that APC will surely be better.”

While praising the progress so far recorded by the APC government in the state, he expressed optimism that similar transformation would be recorded at the national level when the APC clinches power at the centre.

With this development, APC now has under its membership all elected members of the local government and state administrations as well as members of the National Assembly from Yobe State.
