Gunmen on Tuesday night abducted a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Rivers State, Mr. Nnamdi Abbah.
The victim is a former caretaker committee chairman of Emohua Local Government Area.
Abbah was blocked and abducted while driving around Alakahia community inward Obiri Ikwerre road, Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State.
The incident occurred same day state APC Chairman, Davis Ikanya, accused Governor Nyesom Wike of masterminding murder of its members.
Punch reports that the kidnappers transferred the victim to their own vehicle and abandoned his car.
The anti-kidnapping unit of the Rivers State Police Command, Wednesday morning, reportedly towed away the abandoned car.
A relative of the victim, Mr. Chizy Enyi, said contact had been established with the abductors.
It is unknown, however, if any ransom has been placed on Abbah.
Reacting, Public Relations Officer of the Police Command in the state, Mr. Nnamdi Omoni, said he was yet to get details of the incident.
