The All Progressive Congress (APC) has stated that it is yet to endorse Yahaya Bello as replacement for its late candidate, Abubakar Audu in the Kogi State governorship election.
Acting National publicity secretary, Timi Frank told Vanguard that the party had not taken a decision on Audu’s replacement.
“We are still consulting on the issue. We would take a final stand on the issue of Audu’s replacement on Monday and we are definitely going to issue a statement on the issue”, he said.
Bello came second in the party’s primary election that produced Audu.
His purported endorsement has been greeted with rejection by Audu’s running mate, James Faleke and his loyalists.
However, party supporters rooting for Audu’s son, Mohammed, are also warning the party not to consider Bello as the new governorship candidate.
Bello is widely expected to emerge.
According to the law being relied upon, a replacement must have taken part in the process that led to the emergence of the initial candidate.
Bello was runner-up to Audu.
