APC tells security agencies to arrest job scammers using its name

The All Progressives Congress, APC, has called on security agencies and telecommunications service providers to help it apprehend fraudsters who have been defrauding Nigerians by asking them to apply for federal appointments in the incoming APC Federal Government through a non-existent APC screening committee.

The party, in a statement issued in Abuja on Tuesday by its National Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, said it had become necessary to make the call as the scammers had continued in their fraudulent ways, despite previous warnings by the party for them to desist.

”These ‘419ners’ have a telephone number, 08107400745, an email address (apcscreeningcommittee@gmail.com) and a front (Dr. Favour Idiodie), who is supposedly the Screening Committee Secretary. It should therefore not be difficult for the security agencies, working with the service providers, to fish them out and to make them face the full wrath of the law,” it said.

The party also repeated an earlier warning, asking Nigerians to beware of such fraudulent claims, adding that the party had not set up any committee to which Nigerians should submit their CVs for screening and possible federal appointments.

”As we wrote in our earlier statement, even when it is obvious that those behind this appointment scam are merely seeking to swindle innocent Nigerians, some desperate and gullible persons may still fall prey to their evil machinations, hence we have decided to once again alert Nigerians,” the party said.
