The Abia State working committee of the All Progressives congress, APC, has announced the suspension of Chief Ikechi Emenike from the party over alleged anti-party activities.

The party announced this through a press statement signed by the state publicity secretary, Comrade Benedict Godson and issued to newsmen in Umuahia, the Abia state capital on Wednesday.

The statement frowned at the undemocratic activities of Emenike and cohorts, which it said was to cause crisis in the state chapter of the party, stressing that the decision to suspend the former governorship candidate of the defunct All Nigeria Peoples Party, ANPP, was a collective one and endorsed by the majority stakeholders of APC in the state.

The statement restated the party’s stand on the purported court injunction which restrained Honorable Donatus Nwamkpa-led State working committee, SWC, from presiding over the affairs of the party in Abia, declaring that Nwamkpa remained substantive chairman of APC in Abia state.

The statement also disclosed plan by the state leadership of the party to constitute a dispclinary committee to look into some allegations of anti -party activities levelled against Chief Ikechi Emenike and others so as to recommend appropriate sanction.

The statement reads,”Our attention has been drawn to the activities of Chief Ikechi Emenike and his cohorts which the leadership of APC in Abia views as anti-party.

“APC in Abia frowns at the activities of Chief Ikechi Emenike, who has been working secretly to undermine our great party in the state ahead of 2019 general in the state.

“The decision to suspend the former ANPP governorship candidate was endorsed and supported by majority of the party stakeholders in the state.

“The leadership of APC in Abia will in shortest time set up a disciplinary committee to investigate the alleged anti party activities levelled against him. Again, we are using this opportunity to reaffirm that Hon Donatus Nwamkpa remains the substantive chairman of APC in Abia state.

“The leadership of our party is intact under Hon. Nwamkpa and we have concluded plans to head to court with team of our lawyers to quash the kangaroo court injunction”.
