Great Ovedje Ogboru on Monday in Asaba emerged winner of the governorship primaries of the All Progressives Congress (APC) conducted at the premises of the federal College of Education.
According to results announced by the returning officer, Lawrence Onoja, Great Ogboru scored 3,292 to emerge the governorship candidate of the party.
Though the faction of the party led by Cyril Ogodo had on Sunday announced Prof Pat Utomi as winner of the Delta APC governorship primaries, Onoja said the election conducted by the faction was entirely a ruse as Ogodo and his group were expelled from the party, and as a result cannot conduct any election.
Jubilations, however, greeted the winning and victory of Great Ogboru as his supporters rolled out the drums for celebration amidst protest by some group of people believed to be supporters of Victor Ochei and Cairo Ojuogbo.
The results announced by Lawrence Onoja are as follows: Victor Ochei 160, Cairo Ojuogbo 12, and Great Ogboru 3,292 votes.
