Leaders of the Ondo State chapter of the All Progressives Congress, APC, have passed a vote of confidence on Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu.
The leaders of the party in state reaffirmed their continuous support to the governor on Sunday, some weeks after the national body of the party issued a query to Akeredolu for alleged anti-party activities.
Recall that after the recently concluded 2019 elections, party’s National Working Committee, NWC, had accused the governor that his alleged romance with Action Alliance, AA whose candidates he supported at the February 23 poll “greatly affected the fortunes of its candidates in the recently conducted presidential and National Assembly elections in the state.”
According to the party leaders, who converged on the Alagbaka Government House, they stated that the governor’s strides in infrastructural development across the state as well as workers welfare, industrialization among others propelled their pass mark on the governor.
While giving a hint of advocating second term bid for the governor, a BOT member, Jamiu Ekungba and the APC South West chairman, Bankole Oluwajana explained that Akeredolu has made the next journey of the party easy. They described Akeredolu as a sellable candidate who has touched the lives of the people of the state meaningfully.
The party’s stalwarts, who hailed the governor for achieving so much within the space of two years described as unprecedented the growth the state is presently witnessing, despite paucity of funds.
Also the Director-General, Technical Aid Corps, TAC, Pius Osunyikanmi said the Governor has shown that he has vision for the state with his midas touch across the state especially on road construction and reconstruction of Public Primary Schools.
Meanwhile, the State Chairman of the party, Ade Adetimehin urged members of the party to be united and speak with one voice ahead of future elections in the state.
Reacting, Akeredolu thanked leaders of the party for the confidence reposed in him, assuring that more dividends of good governance will be enjoyed across board.
At the meeting were the Deputy Governor, Hon. Agboola Ajayi, Speaker of the state’s House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Bamidele Oleyelogun, Chief of Staff to the Governor, Chief Gbenga Ale, Secretary to the State Government, Ifedayo Abegunde among others.
