The Ogun State Government has debunked speculations that the Governor, Ibikunle Amosun, has withdrawn from the senatorial primary of the All Progressives Congress (APC) slated for Sunday.
Dayo Adeneye, Commissioner for Information, made this reaction in a statement Saturday night.
He said: “This so-called press release, purportedly signed by the Secretary to the Ogun State Government, Barr Taiwo Adeoluwa, is a lie from the pit of hell, as Amosun is very much in the race to clinch the APC ticket to represent the good people of Ogun Central senatorial district in 2019.
“The phony press release remains what it is: a fake news item, which the good people of Ogun State and Nigerians should discard.
“Gov Amosun will contest the APC senatorial primary scheduled for Sunday, October 7, 2018 by the grace of the almighty God.”
Meanwhile, the National Working Committee (NWC) of the APC has announced Dapo Abiodun as authentic winner of the Party’s Ogun State governorship primaries.
The announcement overruled declaration of Adekunle Akinlade, a member of the House of Representatives (Yewa South/Ipokia Federal Constituency), as the winner by Ogun APC.
Akinlade had been endorsed by Amosun.
