The All Nigeria Peoples Party, ANPP said it has lost a lot after they moved to the proposed All Progressive Congress, APC and has cautioned the Congress for Progressive Change, CPC to desist from campaign of calumny against its BOT Chairman.
This was disclosed by the party’s National Director of Publicity, Comrade Sabo Mohammed while addressing journalists at the Secretariat of the Nigerian Union of Journalist in Bauchi. The Comrade was reacting to recent comments by a member of the APC Merger committee, Dr. Haruna Yerima of the CPC.
According to him, “Going by the agreement reached before the merger, it’s unfair to say Senator Sheriff is not a progressive or to do anything with bad intention to blackmail ANPP leaders, like Sheriff.
He said, “It was agreed that everybody should forgive each other in order to move forward, beside that, ANPP is the only party whose name is not included in the name of the party, even the color and slogans of the proposed APC doesn’t reflect ANPP logo or slogan”.
The ANPP image maker further lamented that, despite all the aforementioned exclusions, ANPP agreed to move to the proposed APC and the BOT Chairman did a lot and supported all initiatives that will lead to the success of the merger, but wondered why its leader would be blackmailed and accused of not being a progressive.
He advised CPC to caution Dr. Haruna Yerima, not to do anything that will lead to the crack within the new proposed APC.
Comrade Sabo further alleged that, Dr. Yerima and his allies were very close to General Muhammadu Buhari, and are the ones causing confusion and creating unnecessary tension to scuttle the political ambition of the CPC leader.
The ANPP Chieftain urged leaders of the APC to disregard Dr. Yerima’s utterances and work with fairness in order to select credible leaders that will help APC to succeed.
He maintained that, Senator Ali Sheriff, leaders of the ANPP and their governors have great respect for General Buhari and leaders of other political parties involved in the merger, but wondered why someone would come out to do something that will create confusion and disharmony after having done a lot to build a strong APC.
