APC is no match for PDP; Oshiomhole rigged Edo LG polls – Airhiavbere

The candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in the July 14, 2012 governorship election in Edo State, Gen. Charles Airhiavbere (rtd), has stated that despite the challenge of the All Progressives Congress, the PDP will emerge victorious in the coming elections.

Airhiavbere who spoke to newsmen on Wednesday at the National Secretariat of the PDP in Abuja, said that with the PDP controlling about two third of the elective structures in the country, the party has all it takes to retain the leadership of the nation.

“Unlike the opposition APC, the PDP is a truly national political party which accommodates Nigerians across all regions and religions and is not owned by one person or group of persons. It is Nigerians that own it,” he said.

He added that with the emphasis on the 3R agenda of the National Chairman of PDP, Dr. Bamanga Tukur which also aligns with the transformation programme of President Jonathan, there was no doubt that the PDP would continue to do well.

The retired military officer however warned that the Party must sustain the strategic re-engineering of its structures to make them ever ready for challenges.

Airhiavbere commended the transformation drive of President Goodluck Jonathan which he said was bearing fruits despite enormous challenges.

“The mid-term score card of the President has proved to even the cynics, his iron cast determination to better the lots of Nigerians.

Speaking on the fate of the PDP in Edo State, the General said the last local government elections which was massively rigged has mercilessly exposed all claims of electoral superiority by the ACN over the PDP in the state.

” Shamelessly, the Adams Oshimole’s ACN rigged a local government election the PDP was poised to win landslide”, he said.
