No fewer than 1,000 Northern youths have dumped the All Progressives Congress, APC, for the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Uvwie area of Delta State.
They said their defection was to help the vice chairman of Uvwie Local Government Council, Chief Napoleon Akpomiemie Iffie, win the forthcoming chairmanship election. Chairman of the Arewa youths in Uvwie, Adamu Ibrahim ,who led the youths, promised that he and others will ensure that the PDP emerged victorious.
Ibrahim said “APC has failed us butPDP has shown concern towards our welfare”.
Uvwie PDP chairman, Prince Kelly Otuedor, thanked the youths for joining “the winning party”.
He assured them that they will not be sidelined as a reward for the open declaration and support.
“I want to assure you all that you will benefit like every other person in the party,” Otuedor added.
In his remarks, Iffie vowed to justify the confidence reposed in him if elected.
In attendance were PDP leaders and elders in Uvwie local government area.
