Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has stated that at no time did Governor Rauf Aregbesola, ask the Election Tribunal sitting in Osogbo to order for a re-run election.
According to the party, Aregbesola convincingly won the August 9 gubernatorial election.
A statement yesterday by its director of Publicity, Research and Strategy, Kunle Oyatomi observed that some newspapers erroneously reported that Aregbesola filed a prayer for re-run of the election, if the tribunal upholds Omisore’s application.
The spokesman clarified that the only prayer made by the governor was that, “Whereof in all the forgoing premises, amongst others, the 2nd Respondent denies in their entirety all the prayers of the petitioners as set out in all of paragraph 59 (i-v) on pages 174 and 175 of the petition and urges the Honourable Tribunal to dismiss the petition with substantial costs for being unmeritorious, frivolous, vexatious, ill-conceived and an abuse of court process”.
APC said it was not losing sleep over the case because the people of Osun voted in en-mass for its candidate.
It added that the party was optimistic on the outcome of the matter.
