The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ekiti State has reacted to comments made by Governor Ayodele Fayose during his maiden monthly media chat.
The party accused the governor of deliberate falsehood to win undeserved sympathy and set Ekiti people against former Governor Kayode Fayemi and other APC leaders.
A press statement by the state publicity secretary of APC, Taiwo Olatubosun, noted that Fayose lied by saying that Fayemi owed workers two months salaries, which he (Fayose) said he was not prepared to pay.
The party said that Fayemi did not collect September allocation before he left in October and wondered why Fayose who collected September allocation refused to pay workers their September salary.
“Fayose said in the programme that he has not collected any money since his assumption of office. That is a lie and wickedness to Ekiti workers.
“The workers deserve their pay. Fayose cannot claim he has no money after collecting N22 billion so far after he assumed office.”
Olatubosun also accused the governor of lying to the people that Fayemi took the governor’s official car away and that it was after mounting pressure on the former governor that he returned the car for his official use.
He said: “The truth is that the N43 million Range Rover that Fayose bought immediately he became governor-elect and passed the bill to Fayemi to pay is even costlier and more sophisticated than the one Fayemi used and we wonder how a man who enjoys this luxury would say he did not have official car.
“The governor also said he had shunned the new Government House because he cannot be living in opulence with regular power supply while the rest of Ekiti people live in the dark.
“Can the governor swear by the Holy Bible, real Holy Bible, and not a dictionary wrapped with Holy Bible cover, that he is not living in the new Government House as we speak?”
Demanding more answers from Fayose, APC quipped: “Where did he host a foremost traditional ruler from Ekiti Central Senatorial zone last Sunday night? Why is it that the house is always lit at night if nobody is living there?
“Why does the governor always feel that Ekiti people are fools? Why does the leader of a people believe that lying is a way of life and instrument of governance?”
