Bayelsa State Governor, Seriake Dickson, has lamented that the ongoing crisis in the state chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) threatens the peace of the state.
Dickson spoke at the inauguration of eight new Special Advisers and the General Manager of the Bayelsa State Transport Company, Emomotimi Fanama, in Yenagoa.
The new Special Advisers are James Dugo, Chief Bernard Agai, Chief Patrick Osunu, Agatha Goma, Ayobegha James, Mr. Alex Dumbo, Chief Kienyosuote Degi and Henry Orumieyefa.
The governor said he would not allow violence reign in the state after he had worked to to ensure calm atmosphere.
Dickson’s comment follows the controversy over selection of running mate to APC governorship candidate, Timipre Sylva.
A section of party supporters are backing APC chairman the state, Chief Tiwei Orunimighe, while others are opposed to his possible emergence.
On Tuesday, supporters of Orunimighe protested the choice of a retired principal from Forupa in Southern Ijaw Local Government Area, Wilberforce Igiri, whose name had reportedly been submitted to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
They accused Sylva of going back on his promise to make Orunimighe his running-mate and threatened further disturbance if Sylva failed to rescind his decision.
