APC crisis: Ikechi Emenike fires back at Apugo, accuses him of collecting N20m from Gov Ikpeazu

A chieftain of the All Progressives congress in Abia state, Chief Ikechi Emenike has fired back at a member of the Board of Trustees of the party, Prince Benjamin Apugo, describing the elder statesman as an attention seeker.

Apugo had on Wednesday accused Chief Ikechi Emenike of being sponsored by the ruling Peoples Democratic Party in Abia state to destabilize the party.

Emenike in a statement issued by Engr. Mike Ozoemena, and made available to DAILY POST on Thursday, accused Prince Apugo of secretly hobnobbing with the state Governor, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu.

He alleged that, Apugo collected a whopping twenty million Naira from Governor Ikpeazu, during the governor’s visit to his(Apugo) house.

The former governorship apirant wondered how the elder statesman would accused him of being sponsored by PDP, while he,(Apugo) and his children were being sponsored by Ikpeazu-led government to cause problem in Abia APC.

The statement said Chief Apugo is an attention seeker and not worthy of High Chief Ikech Emenike’s time.

“Engineer Ozoemena said that Apugo who is claiming to be a member of an inexistent BoT is actually the one being sponsored along with his children to destabilize the party within the state so as to make it easy for Okezie Ikpeazu and the PDP to retain the governorship seat of the state come 2019.

“In as much as we do not want to glorify Apugo with a response, we will however not fail to let the public know that Chief Apugo has been pleading with high chief Emenike for a meeting which High Chief Emenike had declined severally because of Apugo’s insincerity and double stand on issues concerning the welfare of the party.

“We will also not fail to bring to the notice of the public Chief Apugo’s double dealings with the PDP and Dr. Ikpeazu, the public will recall that on several occasions Dr. Ikpeazu and Chief B.B Apugo has held several meetings in Chief Apugo’s house and one of the outcome of the meeting was the appointment of his son Victor Apugo as the ASEPA general manager and a gift of 20 million naira which was given to him (B.B.Apugo) while promising to sponsor another of his son who was relieved of his job as ASEPA GM into the House of representatives.

“We want to remind Chief Apugo that we know all his dealings and decided to keep quiet not because we are not aware but we wanted to give him time to rethink his disgraceful actions aimed at sabotaging the fortunes of the party in the coming elections.

“We advise Chief Apugo that an elder is someone who should have some integrity in him and makes peace where there is crisis but rather, Chief Apugo reaps out of crisis and such actions and behaviours ere not befitting of one who addresses himself as an elder.

Meanwhile, as at the time of filing this report, calls put to Prince Benjamin Apugo did not connect.
