Stakeholders of the All Progressive Congress (APC), in Borno state, including members seeking re-election for Hawul state constituency in the April 11 elections, Hon. Ayuba Stephen Wakawa, Council Chairman of Hawul Local Government Area, Dr. Andrew Usman Malgwi yesterday called on the people of the area to shun anything that will cause disunity, chaos and political bitterness among supporters of various political parties in the gubernatorial and House Assembly elections in the state.

The stakeholders noted that power only comes from God at His appointed time, and that violence does not create any positive impact on socioeconomic development and progress of any society. They pointed out that hitting up the polity in a state like Borno which has already suffered much violence, killing and destruction of property by insurgents will not auger well for its existence.

It would be recalled that on 27th March, the eve of the Presidential elections, there was a reported case of violence that erupted between supporters of the APC and the PDP in Marama town which caused severe injuries on the Commissioner for Poverty Alleviation, Usman Mamman Durkwa, the council Chairman, Dr. Malgwi among others who were admitted at Biu Hospital, before they were reffered to the National Hospital, Abuja where they were treated and discharged this week.

Addressing a joint press conference in Maiduguri after they were discharged from their hospital beds, Dr. Malgwi and Hon. Wakawa said, what happened to them was carried out by desperate politicians (names withheld) who had hired some political assassins to take away their precious lives.

They insisted that no amount of political intimidation, harrasment and threats by some selfish individual (s) will stop them from canvassing support for governor Shettima and all other candidates seeking to be elected on the platform of the ruling APC in the state, as according to them, APC under Shettima’s government has impacted positively on the lives of the people irrespective of tribe, ethnic or religious inclinations.
