A gubernatorial aspirant of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Engr Okechukwu Adiaso has congratulated the newly sworn-in Chairman of the Abia State Chapter of the party, Chief Donatus Nwankpa.
The newly elected State Chairmen were sworn in by the APC National Chairman, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun at the National secretariat in Wuse, Abuja on Monday.
In a statement on Tuesday, Adiaso called on all party members to support the Nwankpa-led State Executive.
He insisted that there was a compelling need to close ranks and eschew all forms of rancour and bitterness to work for the success of the party in the forthcoming 2019 general elections.
Adiaso noted that the aspirations of Ndigbo for fairness, equitable development and distribution of the nation’s resources would be better met under an APC government.
He, however, lampooned the Ikpeazu-led administration for “wastefulness and plunging future generations into servitude with huge loans being incurred by the Abia state government without commensurate infrastructural returns to the people.”
He cited the ₦30 billion taken from a consortium of commercial banks and the $200 million taken from the African Development Bank (AfDB) as examples.
The aspirant also decried the non-payment of salaries and allowances to workers and pensioners, adding that it was wicked to make Abia state workers suffer for months even after the state received the sums of ₦14.152billion and ₦10.6 billion as bailout funds from the APC led federal government and ₦5.715 billion from the Paris club refund.
Adiaso further stated that only an APC government can guarantee a transparent and accountable administration in Abia state and urged Abians to embrace the party in order to position the state strategically to benefit from the socialist intervention programmes of the Federal Government.
