Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Rivers State, Felix Obuah has called on the state Chapter of the All Progressives Congress, APC, to stop playing politics with the dead.

Speaking with journalists in Port Harcourt on Tuesday, Obuah, said it was unfortunate that the opposition was using those that died to play politics in the state.

While urging politicians in the state to respect the dead, the state PDP Chairman stressed that the PDP had no hand in the death of anyone in the state.

Obuah noted that the PDP recorded a landslide victory in the last election because it campaigned round the state.

Dismissing the calls by some speakers at the APC rally on Monday for the declaration of a state of emergency in Rivers State, he stated that noting should warrant such from anybody.

Obuah stressed that the PDP government will continue to take steps to promote good governance in the state, adding that the party had sealed arrangement to celebrate peace in the state.

“We want to say that the PDP will not condescend so low as to play politics with the lives of Rivers people by celebrating falsehood and deceit. We shall strive to defend democracy, good governance and the sanctity of lives, no matter the situation,” he said.

Obuah further urged the APC governorship candidate in the state, Mr Dakuku Peterside, to shun desperation.

“We call on President Muhammadu Buhari, the National Assembly and the law enforcement agents to call Dakuku, his Abuja based sponsor and the Rivers APC to order,” Obuah said.
