The National Working Committee (NWC) of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has announced Dapo Abiodun as winner of the Party’s Ogun State governorship primaries.
A statement by its spokesman, Yekini Nabena, on Friday confirmed this.
It said Abiodun, an oil mogul, won the Primary Election after scoring 102,305 votes.
According to the party, other aspirants scored the following: Jimi Lawal -51,153; Kunle Akinlade – 23, 443; Bimbo Ashiru – 29, 764 Senator Adegbenga Kaka – 17, 771; Abayomi Semako Koroto – 9, 610.
DAILY POST recalls that the Muhammad Ndabawa-led electoral committee sent to Ogun State by the NWC Wednesday night, declared Abiodun winner of the Direct governorship primary.
Speaking to reporters, Ndabawa stated that he was not aware of an earlier announcement by the state chapter.
“My committee is the authentic body constituted by the NWC to conduct and supervise governorship primary in the state in line with the party guidelines and constitution”, he said.
The announcement of Abiodun came hours after Adekunle Akinlade, member of the House of Representatives (Yewa South/Ipokia Federal Constituency), was declared as the winner of the primary by Ogun APC.
Akinlade had been endorsed by Ogun governor, Ibikunle Amosun.
Making the declaration, Wednesday afternoon, at the APC State Secretariat in Abeokuta, State Chairman, Chief Derin Adebiyi declared that Akinlade polled the highest number of valid votes in the primaries.
He said Akinlade scored 190,987 votes, leaving Jimi Lawal in a distant second position with 5,046 votes.
According to him, Dapo Abiodun garnered 3,648 votes, Abimbola Ashiru – 898 votes and Adegbenga Kaka – 833 votes.
