The Speaker of the Ekiti State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. (Pastor) Kola Oluwawole, has stated that every conspiracy against the people and government of the state will fail, as long as God remains on His throne and with the people.
According to a statement by his Special Assistant (Media), Stephen Gbadamosi, Pastor Oluwawole stated this at the monthly prayer meeting organised by the state House of Assembly at the Assembly chamber in Ado Ekiti, the state capital.
He appreciated God for His protection over the Assembly staff and the entire lawmakers, especially Hon Afolabi Akanni, who was arrested by the Department of State Services (DSS) and only released after 18 days without charges.
The Assembly Speaker charged the workers and the entire people of Ekiti State to always be grateful to God, noting that with God, all impossibilities could be made possible.
He expressed hope that the second quarter of the year would be better, adding that the blessings of the month would abide by those who diligently sought and followed the path of the Lord.
In his sermon, the Clerk of the House, Mr Tola Esan, spoke on what the workers could do “in this period of famine, just as it happened in the past, as recorded in the holy Bible.”
He admonished the staff not to rely on monthly salary alone, but to diversify into profitable ventures like agriculture.
Mr Esan urged the staff to be more diligent and obedient, pointing out that those who were diligent in the Bible era survived the famine of the period and added that the current hardship confronting the country would soon fade away, “if we all hinge our hope on God.”
