There is apparent anxiety in Osun State, as indication emerged on Friday that Governor Rauf Aregbesola is now set to constitute his cabinet, by appointing commissioners to head government ministries, DAILY POST is reporting.
The governor has been running the State without commissioners.
But the Chief of Staff to the Governor, Alhaji Gboyega Oyetola who dropped the hint during an interactive session with journalists in Osogbo, the Osun State capital, said the Governor could not constitute his cabinet since due to paucity of funds in the state.
He explained that the huge financial responsibilities that go with cabinet constitution were solely responsible for the delay in having commissioners at the heads of ministries in the state.
He,however added that democratic local government administration would also be set up against the unconstitutional Caretaker Committee presently overseeing the 30 local governments in the state.
DAILY POST recalls that Governor Rauf Aregbesola is already in the 28th month of his second term in office without constituting a cabinet, and strangely, some of the former Commissioners and array of Special Advisers still operate their offices and maintain official apartments at the government quarters.
A reliable source at the government’s circle told DAILY POST that most of the former aides of the governor still perform executive role under the guise of ‘”consultancy.”
