The Coalition Against Terrorism and Extremism (CATE) has appealed to the trio of journalist, Ahmed Salkida, activists, Aisha Wakil and Ahmed Bolori to help secure the immediate and unconditional release of the Chibok girls are being held by Boko Haram.
The appeal follows the accusations and counter accusations against the trio that they know much about the whereabouts of the girls.
CATE also urged the Bring Back Our Girls (BBOG) group, to put pressure on Salkida,Wakil and Bolori considering the important role they could play in the release of the girls, while expressing concerns that time was running out.
Speaking at a briefing in Abuja, the group’s National Coordinator, Gabriel Onoja, noted that they were convinced that the trio has useful information as to the whereabouts of the girls, emphasizing that the recent video released by the insurgents has rekindled the world’s belief that many of them are still alive.
“We want the abducted girls back now that their captors have released a video to convince the world that many of them are still alive, even as the abduction in itself is evil and the girls’ travails is felt by all Nigerians and the world,” the group expressed.
“Their continued captivity has definitely been traumatic for the girls, especially as they have recounted how some of their colleagues died. It has been harrowing for their parents and friends who daily wonder when their girls would be home,” they added.
The group further suggested that security agencies should exploit the trio’s unfettered access to Boko Haram terrorists to get to the girls.
