Tension again grips residents of Magumeri as unknown gunmen stormed the area in the early hours on Monday, killing the Chairman of the All Nigeria Peoples Party in Magumeri Local Government Area of Borno State, Alhaji Tar Kusurambe.

The ANPP chieftain was shot dead at his residence at about 2am. He was killed barely two days after returning from Saudi Arabia where he had gone for Hajj.

DailyPost gathered that no group has claimed responsibility for the attack, but it is believed to be the handwork of the Boko Haram group.

Borno state has been the power base of the dreaded Boko Haram sect. The group had recently declared the Chairman of the ANPP Board of Trustees, Ali Modu Sheriff, as its number one enemy.

As at the time of filing this report, Borno state Joint Task Force and the police were yet to confirmed the incident.
