Another inferno in Lagos: fire razes top floor of building

Another boxing day tragedy struck in Lagos when a storey building on Fola Agoro street in Somolu area was gutted by fire at about 5:30pm.

Eyewitnesses disclosed that the fire was caused by a cooking gas equipment which triggered an electrical spark in the building.

DailyPost gathered that the occupants of most affected apartments on the top floor were on holiday as at the time the incident occurred.

It took the intervention of two fire service squads from Isolo and Agege area of Lagos to have brought the ranging inferno to a halt.

The lower floor of the building used as commercial shops wasn’t affected by the fire.

There are reports that the house is one of the numerous buildings owned by Alhaji Fola Agoro, the man the area was named after.

Details of casualties haven’t been confirmed yet, but one of the neighbours who made frantic efforts to fetch water in order to put out the fire was seriously injured and is currently being treated for smoke inhalation.

You will recall that about 40 people were injured as a fireworks warehouse caught fire , leading to several explosions that razed eight houses in Jankara area of Lagos just yesterday.
