Senator Shehu Sani has reacted to the killing of Anita Akapson, the niece of a former Finance minister, Nenadi Usman, by personnel of the Nigeria Police.

DAILY POST reported earlier that Akapson’s family petitioned the Inspector-General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, over the murder of the former minister’s 31-year-old niece.

Akapson recently returned to Nigeria after her university education in the United Kingdom, and was reportedly shot dead by a Superintendent of Police around 11 pm on Saturday.

She was said to be driving out of her house at Katampe Extension by Gwarimpa Estate in a Honda Accord car when she met her death.

Policemen allegedly surrounded Akapson’s building and were laying in wait for a fleeing armed robbery suspect when the woman drove out of the compound.

Reacting to the incident, the lawmaker representing Kaduna Central district, said that the killer-policeman must be brought to book.

He also said that the police must do more to put an end to extra-judicial killings.

He tweeted, “The Killing of Ms Anita Akapson by the Police is sad, tragic and condemnable.

“Bringing the culprits to book is the right step but the police need to do more to end the menace of extra judicial killings by its personnel.

“My condolences to the family of the deceased. Adieu. “
