Sunderland manager, David Moyes, has confirmed that Victor Anichebe, will not be fit for their Premier League fixture against Stoke City this Saturday.
The Nigerian striker has been sidelined with a hamstring injury for weeks and was expected to return for the game.
“Victor Anichebe isn’t ready for this weekend,” Moyes said in Friday’s press conference.
Moyes says he is banking on their good form at home against the Potters this weekend.
“We have a good winning run against Stoke at home so let’s hope it continues,” he added.
“We’ve played a lot better at home and we look capable of getting results at the Stadium Of Light.
“I watched Stoke play recently and they’re a good team. They have a very stable club and they’re trying to move up every year.
“We need our home form and we’re going to need the supporters right behind us between now and the end of the season.”
