Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu
Angry looking youth on Thursday night removed all the 2015 Governorship campaign posters of the Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu pasted at strategic locations in Nsukka, Enugu State.
The youth who described the perceived the governorship ambition of Senator Ekweremadu as a breach of the existing zoning arrangement in the state, affirmed that such person cannot continue to disturb the peace of Enugu state with his posters.
A source told DailyPost that the youth marched from one street to the other end around 10p.m on Thursday.
A prominent member of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Enugu State, who spoke to DailyPost said the posters were an affront on the people of Nsukka zone of Enugu State, adding that “the removal of the posters was a demonstration of the youth’s anger.
“Personally, I see those posters as an insult on the collective psyche of Nsukka people, why should they start pasting the poster in Nsukka, a zone that is expected to produce Governor in 2015?
“As I speak to you, none of such poster has appeared anywhere in Enugu West Senatorial district, Ekweremadu’s zone.
“So, I can understand how the youth feel; the earlier those behind this game stopped it, the better. It will be a grave injustice for any other zone, apart from Nsukka, to think of producing Governor in 2015 after they have served two tenures each”.
It could be re-called that Ekweremadu’s campaign posters flooded major streets in Enugu state on Sunday. His Personal Assistant, Mr. Martin Oloto, however, distanced the Senator from the posters.
“The Deputy Senate President is not aware of those behind the 2015 governorship campaign posters. Those behind it are political mischief makers, who want to blackmail the integrity of Ekweremadu”, he stated.
