Anglican Primate tasks FG on proactive security measures


The Most Rev. Nicholas Okoh, the Primate, Church of Nigeria (Anglican Communion), has advised the Federal Government to evolve a more proactive and effective security measures to ensure safety of lives and property.

Okoh gave the advice at the opening of the Standing Committee meeting of the church in Akure on Wednesday‎.

He observed that Nigerians recent activities of marauders and criminal elements showed that Nigerians were not safe in their homes, offices and even in their farmlands.

While expressing optimism that the current war against insurgency was surmountable, Okoh noted that the church had immeasurable role to play in supporting government in this regard.

He restated the stance of the Church of Nigeria against all forms of sexual immorality such as homosexuality, lesbianism, bisexualism, and all forms of obscenities currently trending across the globe.

Earlier, the Most Rev. Latunji Lasebikan, the Archbishop of Ondo Ecclesiastical Province and the Bishop of Akure Diocese, Rt. Rev. Simeon Borokini, said that they were confident that the Akure meeting, with the theme:“’Look and Live”, would bring God’s abundance blessings upon the state.

Also speaking at the event, Gov. Olusegun Mimiko of Ondo, charged the church to do more in making political leaders more accountable to the people.

Mimiko said that his foray into politics was to offer ‎sacrificial service to the people.
