Church of England (Anglican Communion) is set to ordain a Nigerian gay man, Jide Macaulay, priest.

Jide, who left for UK after his attempt to set up a gay-based Church, House of Rainbow, failed in Nigeria, announced this yesterday on his Instagram page.

The theologian and gay rights activist, who shared a copy of the invitation, wrote: “It is a delight to share this news. I am to be ordained Anglican Priest in the Church of England in June 2019.

“Wait on the Lord, be of Good courage and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait I say, on the Lord. Psalm 27:14″

Going through his Instagram page, the 53-year-old Macaulay’s show of support for the Lesbian, Gay, Bi-sexual, Transgender (LGBT) community is clear as he continues to encourage others like him to keep being their true selves, something he described as being ‘authentic and natural’ in one of his posts.
