Carlo Ancelotti has said it was “a great honour” to be part of Bayern Munich’s history, after he was sacked as manager on Thursday.
“It has been a great honour to form part of Bayern’s history. I would like to thank the Club, the Players and it’s amazing fans. #MiaSanMia,” he wrote on Twitter.
Ancelotti was dismissed a day after the German champions were hammered 3-0 by Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League.
The former Chelsea and Real Madrid coach, only joined Bayern last season and won the Bundesliga title in his debut campaign.
He also led the team to the quarter-finals of the 2016/17 Champions League, where they were eliminated by eventual winners, Real Madrid.
Ancelotti leaves Bayern in third place in the Bundesliga, three points off leaders Borussia Dortmund.
