Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti, has denied that Real Madrid have accepted an offer for Gonzalo Higuain from Napoli and insisted that he wants the striker to remain at the Santiago Bernabeu.
The Argentine striker has begun pre-season training with Madrid, despite being close to joining Arsenal and reports in the Italian press earlier this week, suggested that he was heading to Naples, but Ancelotti is adamant there is no truth in these stories.
“It’s not true. I don’t have news about this,” the new Real Madrid manager said after Madrid defeated Bournemouth 6-0 in a friendly game.
“I spoke to Higuain this week. As I said, he’s a Real Madrid player and until there are news, I have to consider him a Real Madrid player and I would like he would stay with us.
“I think that now I speak of Higuain as a Real Madrid player, fantastic player, fantastic striker. For him tonight to score very important for us. It’s not tonight to judge the price of the player.”
Reports in Spain however say that Ancelotti is trying to bring in a new forward, before Higuain is sold to Arsenal or Napoli.
