A group which identified itself as the youth wing of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, has dismissed media report that Governors Willie Obiano and Chibuike Amaechi of Anambra and Rivers States are planning an alliance which would see them undermine the President Goodluck Jonathan’s government as well as his re-election bid.
The youths coming under the auspices of APGA Greater Tomorrow for Good Governance (AGTGG), in an address to journalists in Awka, Anambra State went on to assert that, “no member of APGA at any level is or has been meeting with or working closely with Governor Amaechi or even his proxies”, describing the report as complete false.
The spokesman of the group, Comrade Emenike Sunday, while reading out a three-page document which was distributed to journalists, stated that, “neither Mr. Dozie Nwankwo nor Governor Obiano as individuals or in concert with each other have ever been with Amaechi in same political party at any time at all.
“When Amaechi was in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Nwankwo was in ACN and now that Nwankwo has since moved on to APGA, Amechi is in APC. That they all have their minds fixed on particular ideological goals for their constituents,” he said.
While attributing the said report to ‘political prostitutes who have been shuttling from one political party to another,’ Emenike said, “Amaechi’s wife has no political involvement outside Rivers State. Also, he pointed out that in Kwara State, the Saraki political dynasty has different colouration,” explaining that Senator Bukola Saraki, a two-time governor of the state, belonged to the All Progressives Congress (APC) whereas his sister, Gbemisola Saraki is of the PDP.
The group, in the statement, noted that AGTGG was set up to foster positive leadership attitude among members and mobilise popular support for APGA candidates. They further fingered some senatorial and House of Representatives aspirants in the PDP, who they said were very jittery “that the revolutionary popularity” of Dozie Nwankwo, Chief Victor Umeh and Obiano would defeat them, as the brains behind the campaign of calumny.”
Discribing as “infantile stunt, the false accusations and misleading publications being circulated against Nwankwo, Umeh and Obiano,” Emenike stressed that the PDP aspirants know they stand no chance in the 2015 general elections in the state, hence, their resort to cheap blackmail against APGA and her very outstanding candidates.
