Anambra: Shettima conducted transparent primary, APC shouldn’t be misled – Madu

Barr. Nonso Madu, Anambra State APC governorship aspirant, has reacted to the submission of primary election appeal panel report submitted to the party’s National Secretariat.

Madu insisted that the party and the Governor Kashim Shettima-led primary election committee did a good job.

In a statement made available to DAILY POST on Wednesday, Madu noted that “a free and fair primary election was conducted on 26th August 2017, and a winner emerged”.

”Over 4,000 APC members in Anambra state participated and voted in the primary election as delegates. This includes youths, elderly men and women, nursing mothers with their babies and even people with disabilities.

”The entire process lasted for over 48 hours as delegates had left their various homes and wards to converge at the state capita, Awka on Friday 25th August 2017 and results announced on Sunday 27th August 2017.

”With the result pf the primary election, it is clear that Anambra State APC has spoken with their votes. The NWC should not be misled to subvert the will of the masses.

”I had earlier made available videos showing Senator Andy Uba commending the entire process with the optimism that he will emerge victorious and also promising to support whoever emerges as candidate. Only for our distinguished senator to turn around and file a petition.

”In other to dispute the claims by Senator Andy Uba that fake delegates voted, I also availed the public of videos of the voting process in which ward Chairmen from each Local Government are seen lining up to identify delegates while they vote.

”To further dispute his claims that the accreditation venue was invaded by thugs since it was not covered by TV stations, I will make available not just pictures but new video clips.

”The video clips contain events from Friday 25th August 2017 as all aspirants went on an inspection of the accreditation venue with His Excellency Governor Kashim Shettima and the Anambra State Police Commissioner, Umar Garba. In the video, aspirants were being briefed on the modalities for accreditation and voting.

”The video further shows the Saturday August 26th accreditation going on peacefully with delegates being properly identified.

”Having made all these available, I urge the NWC not to be pressurised, deceived or misled into taking any decision that might negatively affect the chances of out great party in Anambra State

”The NWC of our great party should note that only Anambra people will be voting on November 18th 2017. The August 26th 2017 primary election result is indicative of where their heart is.

”I call on our NWC not to allow all the efforts put in place by the Governor Shettima led electoral panel, with the security agencies, the resilience of over 4,000 delegates of our great party to be in vain.

”I once again urge our distinguished Senator Andy Uba to sheath his sword, join hands with other aspirants and our candidate Dr Tony Nwoye for our party to emerge victorious come November 18th 2017.”
