Anambra police reunite children kidnapped in Rivers with parents

Police in Anambra State have reunited two boys kidnapped in Rivers State, Jerome Oyechachi and Paul Chijioke aged eight and seven years respectively, with their parents.

The Anambra State police command had last weekend announced that vigilante group attached to Okija brought two children said to hail from Rivers and Enugu States to the Okija Police Station.

The Command had on recovering the children issued an announcement and implored members of the public with useful information that could help trace the children’s parents to contact the Command through the distress numbers provided.

The Anambra State police spokesman, who announced the reuniting of the children with their parents, said that the children were later found to have been kidnapped by a child theft syndicate since October.

He said, “The good news is that today 18/12/2018 parents of both Children came all the way from Rivers State where the Children were allegedly stolen (one of them since October 2018) by Child stealing Syndicate and brought to Okija where the Children are found and reunited with their parents.

“We have reunited them with their parents and effort is ongoing to apprehend the syndicate behind this dastardly act and bring them to Justice.

“One of the victim was able to memorize the GSM number of his School Aunty which was used by the Police to contact his parents.

“In view of the foregoing, the Command implores parents to always encourage their Children memorize their phone numbers as a precautionary measure against any unforeseen circumstances.”
