The Anambra State Police Command on Thursday paraded 48 suspected cultists who allegedly belong to the notorious Vikings Confraternity alongside two witch doctors said to specialise in preparing charms for armed robbers and kidnappers.
According to the state Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Mr. Ali Okechukwu, the suspected cultists were arrested in various parts of the state as they were carrying out initiation of new members.
“The arrest of the suspects followed a tip-off by members of the public. Among the items recovered from them were guns, cartridges, machetes, large quantities of Indian hemp and other dangerous weapons.
“Most of the suspects are students in various tertiary institutions.
“They would soon appear in court since investigations into their cases have been concluded,” the PPRO added.
Okechukwu, however, enjoined people of the state to continue supporting the police in its efforts to rid the state of crime.
