Anambra guber: Zoning sustains mediocrity – ADP candidate, Ifeanyi Okonkwo

The Anambra State governorship candidate for Action Democratic Party (ADP), in the November, 18 election, Mr. Ifeanyichukuwu Okonkwo has said that what Anambra State has faulted the use of zoning arrangement to produce political leaders.

Okonkwo stated this in a press release issued on Suday in Enugu tagged: ‘Anambra State on our minds’.

He said “these groups of people define ‘hope’ and ‘dreams’ as products of zoning leadership and suppressing excellence in the face of sustained mediocrity.

“They tell us that to collectively lower world standards should promote unity and as such unacceptable performances become an Anambra model of excellence”.

While querying whether Anambra State has become a home for dream killers, Okonkwo said that confidence breeds excellence.

“I want to serve you as governor in the November, 18 gubernatorial election”, he said, adding “a leader must build new leaders”.

The human right and environmental conservative activist, called for a public debate on what each candidate vying for the Anambra governorship seat would do with his party if elected and not littering the state with posters and billboards.

Okonkwo said he would, if elected, devolve powers from state government to local government councils, town development associations, and the traditional rulers for smart administration to avoid over concentration of power.

According to him, “ADP government in Anambra state will redesigning town development authority, bye-law affecting Urban Centers such as Nnewi, Onitsha, Ogidi, Aguata, Ihiala, Ogbaru, Otu-ocha / Agulari, Umunze, etc, for the indigenous communities to retain 20% of the capital vote, to maintain and retain the Igbo village heritage, which the massive urbanization has over run.

“My government would be a corruption free government as there would be no security vote, moreso, and all the former governors would refund to the state coffer every kobo taken in the name of security vote”.
