Anambra election: Ngige heads 50-man campaign team for Nwoye

Former Anambra State governor and current minister of Labour and Employment, Dr Chris Ngige, has been named chairman of the campaign organization of the All Progressives Congress, APC candidate of the Anambra governorship election, Dr Tony Nwoye.

Ngige will lead a 50-man team saddled with the mandate of ensuring that the candidate of the party emerges as the governor of the state after the November 18th governorship election in the state.

The chairman of the party in the state, Barr Emeka Ibe who announced this in a meeting of the stakeholders of the party held Sunday evening in Awka said that the team have been carefully selected and consists of tested hands.

Ibe said the party has since after the primary election engaged stakeholders of the party to ensure that all grievances were dropped and that the party goes to the election with one house.

He said, “We constituted the reconciliation committee, which is headed by the deputy governorship candidate of our party, Mr Dozie Ikedife Jnr., and they have been meeting stakeholders to ensure unity, and soon, they will present their report to the house.

“So far, we have gotten most of the aspirants of the party who lost to Nwoye to drop their grievances, and they have accepted to work with us, and we are sure that if we approach this election as one house, we will win the election.”

The meeting was attended by most aspirants of the party who had lost to Nwoye, and they took time to display their support for the party, and for its candidate, Dr Nwoye.

Other members of the campaign team include the party’s aspirants; Chief George Mogahalu as vice chairman, Engr. Johnbosco Onukwu, Bath Nwibe, Paul Chukwuma, all of whom had contested the ticket of the party against Nwoye.

While addressing members of the party, Dr Tony Nwoye regretted that the party had lost four clear weeks of campaigns to internal bickering in the party since after the primary election.

He however said that he was sure that the party would win the election, not minding the delays, adding that the attempt to tag APC as a party for northerners would not work as Anambra people were already tired of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA and her governor, Chief Willie Obiano.

He also said, “Rigging is not possible in this election. Votes must count. One man one vote. APC will win this election convincingly and at all cost. APGA would be the complainant while APC would be the defendant after the election.”
