Umueri community in Anambra-East local government area of Anambra State has denied stockpiling arms in readiness for war.
The community which has before now been at war with their neighbours, Aguleri is also said to have internal squabbles, mainly between the traditional ruler of the community and the president general.
In a press release signed by the monarch of the community, Igwe Ben Izuchukwu Emeka and made available to DAILY POST, he said the accusations were malicious and intended to tarnish the image of the community.
“The allegations of an armoury in my domain is false and to all intents and purposes intended to tarnish the reputation of my peace-loving community as well as drag my name to the mud.
“There is no war in Umueri and the President-General and traditional ruler are working harmoniously well to ensure a tranquil atmosphere of love and unity for all and sundry to thrive,” he said.
On allegations that someone had earlier been killed in the community because of restiveness, the monarch said nobody died in Umueri community.
He, however, accepted that there had been a minor internal town union leadership squabble where an impeachment attempt was made on the President General, but said that he has the situation under firm control and that government was aware of the development and had resolved the matter.
“We have reported to security agencies in the state, and they are on the trail of those who concocted these lies, and they will be brought to book soon,” the monarch said.
