The Senator representing Anambra Central senatorial zone, Senator Victor Umeh says the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP for the February 16th election, Mrs Uche Ekwunife was not his match politically and otherwise.
Umeh who was addressing his supporters in Neni community of Anaocha local government area of Anambra said he was disgusted at the brazen attitudes of Ekwunife, whom he said has been going about abusing him in the name of campaigning for votes.
He said, “I will beat her silly in this election. She is not my match in any way. She cannot speak in the Senate which is populated by men who are men. Every zone is sending their best to represent them, and we cannot afford not to do the same in Anambra Central.
“She(Ekwunife) ran to me in 2011 and begged me to help her to go to the National Assembly, and we fielded her and she won. That time, I was a good man to her and my wife was a good woman, but today, she is everywhere abusing me in the name of politics, but this election would truly show who is more popular between she and myself.”
Umeh said he was surprised that Ekwunife who used the influence of soldiers availed her by then ruling party, PDP to steal his vote was now accusing him of being the one that stole her mandate.
He said that he is happy that this time, she would not have the opportunity of being availed security agents as she has moved from the All Progressive Congress, APC which is a ruling party to PDP.
“What many people do not know is that Ekwunife cannot win any election without security. But this time, she would have no security, so let’s see who would win
“Ekwunife is not my match, we must not play politics of hate. As at the time I graduated from the University of Nigeria Nsukka in 1984, I am sure Ekwunife had not entered secondary school. I have served Igbos all my life, and I don’t know if she has done same.
“I have been insulted severally by her at her campaigns, and I do not think that we should jettison time tested Igbo norms and culture because of politics,” Umeh said.
