Anambra APC stops members who stole election funds from holding positions

Members of the Anambra State chapter of the All Progressives Congress, APC, who were identified to have made away with campaign funds in previous elections would not be allowed to hold positions in the party.

This was disclosed by leader of the party in the state, Dr Chris Ngige during a stakeholders meeting after the ward congress.

Ngige, who was offering explanations to stakeholders of the party over the conduct of the ward congress, said the party was using the party’s guideline for the exercise.

He said the agreement of the party was that officials of the party in the ward who were still interested in their position could be retained, while those who were not interested, or where moving to higher positions could be replaced.

He said, “We had little issues, but all these have been settled. We do not have trouble here and we are here to further the cause of the party.

“What we agreed was that those identified as having taken away election money would have to step aside.”

Meanwhile, the local government congress of the party held on Saturday was done by affirmation, DAILY POST gathered.

In some local government areas, officials of the party told journalists that they simply returned the previous officials, and were waiting for the congress committee to ratify their positions.

In other local government areas, no sign of activities were seen anywhere near the party secretariat.
