Amosun vows to expose how Gbenga Daniel ‘purchased’ Ogun citizenship, calls him a thief

Ogun State Governor, Ibikunle Amosun, Thursday attacked his predecessor, Otunba Gbenga Daniel, in what seemed to be an almost uncontrollable anger.

Declaring that the ex governor has no ancestral relationship with the state, Amosun described Daniel as treasury looter who deliberately sold the collective patrimony of Ogun State under fake concession arrangements with the intention of ruining the state.

Addressing a crowd during the official working visit and local government assessment tour of Odeda local government area, in continuation of his tour, Amosun vowed to expose all the intrigues which played out that eventually earned Daniel the citizenship of Ogun State at an appropriate time.

He said he was familiar with the system that facilitated how Daniel ‘purchased’ his claim to Sagamu citizenship during the period he wanted to contest the governorship seat of the state in 2003.

The governor was reacting to allegations leveled against his administration by Daniel when the Labour Party, LP, held its local government summit in Odeda penultimate Sunday.

Daniel had accused Amosun of selling off all the farmlands in the area to other states.

But reacting to the accusations, Amosun described Daniel as “a prodigal son, who sold off all the patrimonies of the state under a fake concession agreement.”

He cited the case of Apoje Farm Settlement, which Amosun said was sold to a former commissioner in Lagos State, Prince Ademola Adeniji-Adele at a ridiculous price.

“When they came into power, the farmlands were over 60, when we came in, it remained only five. They are rogues, God will punish them all.

“Our forefathers will never forgive them and the generations coming will also curse them. They thought we are like them, we are not. I am not a bastard from Isoko”, Amosun stated.

“They came to us then. We are the ones they ran to, and we helped them to get where they are claiming today as their home. Although, it wasn’t time for political campaign, I will not hesitate to respond to Daniel’s allegations against me and my administration here in the same Odeda local government.

“He is envious of our achievements and successes recorded within the past few years. We need to let them know that we are not thieves like them, and I make bold to say that OGD and his people are thieves.

“They will not be able to stand and campaign for votes here in Odeda by the time I start exposing them. They are treasury looters. If not for the type of the country we are, they ought to have covered their hands in shame, rather than boasting around the town”, Amosun declared.

Contrary to the claim by the former governor that he left $10bn in the state treasury on the property at Ikenne, Amosun said his administration only met $1m in the treasury.

“They said they sold Ikenne Plantation Farm to a foreign company at the rate of $10bn, when we came in, we saw that they lied there, and the later came out to say it was just $10m.

“We met only one million there, we are not thieves like them; they are thieves. We are bonafide sons of the soil and will never do things that will destroy the future of our children.

“They are not happy because all the properties they stole, we have retrieved them. The hotel, farms, money and others have been recollected, we are not thieves and rogues like them. We will do what is needful.

“They said we don’t do anything here, when we came in, we planned to commence work on this road, but we were stopped, that the Federal Government had commenced work on it.

“Here is it now, nothing is being done here. When we start the work, I promised you it will be stopped at Bakatari town”, the governor added.
