A former Minister of Mine and Steel, Sarafa Ishola, Wednesday, accused Governor Ibikunle Amosun’s administration in Ogun State of running the state into bankruptcy through excess borrowing.

The ex-minister, who spoke with newsmen in Abeokuta, also accused Governor Amosun of crippling the local councils in the state, saying that all the councils were in danger.

Ishola, who was the Secretary to the State Government during the administration of the former Governor of the state, Otunba Gbenga Daniel, submitted that unless Amosu’s government was checked, the state might mortgage its future.

He said: “I am constrained to notice that Governor Ibikunle Amosun’s administration is on the verge of making history as an administration that will run the state into bankruptcy with the shortest period of its existence.

“This issue of borrowing to pursue projects that are not income-generated should be something that we should seriously look into, so that the state is not mortgaged, just for the sake of the future generation.”
