Interim coach of the Nigeria’s national team, Daniel Amokachi, has described the 1-1 draw against South Africa on Sunday, as a fair result.
Ahmed Musa appeared to have scored the winner in the 85th minute, after he bent in an excellent effort from the left.
But Bongani Zungu equalized for the hosts in injury time at the Mobombela Stadium.
Amokachi hinted that inexperience could have played a part, but insisted the Super Eagles were unlucky not to win the friendly match.
“It is fair, coming away from home after losing to Uganda. Ninety-eight percent of the players are having their first, second or third caps,” Amokachi said during the post match conference.
“It is a fair result but when you are winning and one goal up, conceding is not good”, he added.
The result means Nigeria failed to win its two matches in this FIFA window, after they were beaten 1-0 by Uganda at the Akwa Ibom International Stadium last Wednesday.
