Aggrieved Ex-militants under the Phase II Amnesty Programme of the Federal Government, on Monday threatened to resume violence and militancy in the Niger Delta Creeks if the Federal Government fails to reactivate their bank accounts and pay their monthly stipends to them.
The militants, who carried placards with various inscriptions during a peaceful protest, handed down the threat at the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, Warri Correspondents’ Chapel.
“Our accounts have remained dormant since 2012. They blocked our accounts with UBA and Fidelity in Warri. We were made to understand that the problem iis from the Amnesty Office,” they claimed.
The militants accused the Presidential Adviser on Amnesty Programme, Brig. Gen. Paul Boroh and some Staff in the Amnesty Office of allegedly diverting monies budgeted for them.
They also accused some of their leaders of short changing them.
The leader of thee group, which was drawn from seven camps, Robert Okosogha in their demands said, “Our account should be reactivated. The money should be paid into the accounts. Correction should be made on account number that was changed from UBA to Sterling and Fidelity Bank.
“Failure to do so, we will go back to the creeks and continue with our militant activities.”
