The governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Lagos State, Jimi Agbaje, has lost to his All Progressive Congress counterpart, Akinwumi Ambode.
Results release by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, show that Ambode won 14 out of the 16 local government areas in Lagos.
The keenly contested battle, culminated months of intense politicking, which saw the ruling APC campaign vigorously to keep the growing popularity of PDP’s Agbaje in check.
After losing the presidential election to the APC, the PDP worked hard to win the state due to its status as a state with access to huge financial strength and voting power.
