The Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode, has commiserated with victims of the helicopter that crashed around the Oworonshoki area of the state on Wednesday afternoon, expressing his deep regrets over the unfortunate incident.
Represented by his deputy, Dr. Oluranti Adebule, the governor said the government sent its emergency team to the site after it got the information, adding that top officials of the government were at the site on the directive of the governor to get firsthand information on the accident and offer necessary support and assistance.
The Deputy Governor, who was also at the Gbagada General Hospital where four of the survivors were brought for medical attention, encouraged the injured passengers, promising that the best of medical care will be made available for them at the hospital.
Speaking to journalists after the visit, Adebule said two other survivors were taken to a private hospital around the site of the crash for first aid attention, adding that they would be moved to the government hospital once their condition becomes stable.
“We have four of the survivors at the Gbagada General Hospital while two others are at a private hospital, Afolabi Medical Centre, where they are being attended to as a sort of first aid pending when their condition improves and they will be transferred to the General Hospital also”, the Deputy Governor said.
DAILY POST recalls that the chopper belonging to Bristow Helicopters with 12 people on board, including the crew plunged into the Lagos Lagoon at the Oworonshoki end of the Third Mainland Bridge Wednesday. Four people have been confirmed dead while two are still missing.
